Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) previously known as Special Service Bureau comes under the control of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and is amongst one of the Indian Central Armed Police Forces. SSB had issued a job notification across all job portal websites and on its official website “ssbrectt.gov.in.”, for 290 Constable (General Deputy) posts in SSB, across India. The posts are to be filled by currently serving Male/Female as Combatised Tradesmen (CTs) of SSB i.e. Tailor, Cobbler, Cook, Barber, Washerman, Safaiwala, Gardner, Water Carrier, and Waiter and CT (Orderlies).
The applications for the post are completely online with the last date being 07th June 2019.
Educational Qualification and Experience:
- CTs (Tradesmen and Orderlies) must fulfill the following educational criteria to be eligible for the post of Constable (GD).
Have a minimum of 3 years of regular service in SSB,
- Should have a minimum educational qualification of Matric or equivalent from a recognized board or institute.
Must have medical category SHAPE-I.
- Must have a clean and white service record in the preceding 3 years of service.
- APAR grading for preceding 3 years (i.e. 2015-15, 2016-17, and 2017-18) should not be below “Good” i.e. below “04 in numbers”.
- The date to determine the completion of 3 years of regular service as CTs (T&O) in force and to determine the eligibility criteria will be 01st January 2019.
An applicant must be below 35 years of age to apply for this post, with the upper age limit relaxed by 05 years for SC/ST applicants.
Height & Chest Measurement:
The minimum height and chest of an applicant must match the following defined numbers to be eligible for the post.
a.) Male: 170 cms., and
b.) Female: 157 cms.
2.) Chest:- 80cms (05 cms Expansion) for Male candidates only.
Relaxation is applicable per the Rules.
The selection process consists of 5 rounds, starting with Documentation, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) or Physical Standard Test (PST), thirdly an online written examination, then a Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and lastly a face-to-face interview round.
The candidates who fulfill all the above mentioned eligibility criteria will have to undergo a documentation verification process, where they need to produce all the original documents/certificates which they have mentioned in the application form.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The candidates who pass the documentation process successfully will have to undergo a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will be followed by biometric identification per details given below:
a.) For Male- 5 Kms. race to be completed within 24 minutes.
b.) For Female- 1.6 Kms. race to be completed within 8.30 minutes.
c.) For Ladakh Region (Male)- 1-mile race to be completed within 6.30 minutes.
d.) For Ladakh Region (Female)- 800 meters to be completed within 4 minutes.
Online Written Examination
The candidates who clear the PET/PST process then has to sit for an online written examination consisting of 100 multiple choice OMR based questions with a total of 100 marks. There will be a total of 100 questions of 1 mark each, comprising of various subjects.
The syllabus for this written examination is as follows:
a.) General Awareness.
b.) General Knowledge.
c.) Knowledge of Elementary Mathematics.
d.) Analytical Aptitude.
e.) Ability to distinguish patterns.
f.) Basic Knowledge of English and Hindi Language.
- Minimum qualifying marks for this exam is fixed at:
- 35% for General/UR category candidates, and
- 33% for SC and ST category candidates.
- Detailed Medical Examination (DME):
Candidates who will be scoring the cut-off marks or above will have to go through a detailed medical examination which will be conducted per the Revised Medical Guidelines issued by the MHA vide OM No.A. VI-I/2014/2014-Rectt(SSB) dated 20.05.2015.
Till now there has been no announcement for any of the examination dates by the concerned authority. The notice in this respect is expected to be released once the application process is over.
